Walker from “Purdeys”
This is a scarce 14 bore side by side hammer shot gun by a maker who was apprenticed to James Purdey of London fame, it has 28” nitro proof barrels and signed on the rib “Walker Newbury from Purdey’s London” and on the left barrel “Vickers Camel Steel” and on the right barrel “Vickers Camel Steel” and the locks engraved “Walker from Purdey’s” fitted to a pleasent walnut stock, the gun has been refinished some time ago and would be a joy to own and an asset to any collection, as Boothroyd said everyone should have a hammer shotgun in their collection. A super quality side by side 12 bore pinfire sporting shotgun by the well respected gun maker Westley Richards, it has 30” damascus barrels signed on the rib “Patented October 10th 1865” and “Westley Richards 170 New Bond St London” it has nice signed locks with a vacant escutcheon and steel butt plate to the Walnut stock, on the whole in VGC and only £1750
